Digeus Registry Cleaner is a great program that cleans out all the little bits and pieces of useless information from your computer’s registry. A registry is like a closet, with information stored in it. It’s not really like a closet, but let’s just say it is so I can continue with the next line. As is common with most Windows machines, it’s a closet that has been long overdue for its spring cleaning. Many computers that run slow have massive registries, and because careless programs running in Windows frequently forget to clean up after themselves and the operating system needs more time to scan and interpret all the information.

Along the side, you’ll find a checklist of options to scan for, such as missing shared DLLs and unused file extensions. Options are given to backup and restore the registry, just in case anything goes wrong. I compared the Digeus cleaner with CCleaner, a pretty well known application.

Registry Scan Times:

Digeus Registry Cleaner- 2:04.94

1197 problems

CCleaner-7 Seconds

63 problems

It seems like Digeus’s Registry Cleaner can find many more problems than CCleaner, but in turn it takes longer to complete.

The Good:

In-depth search

Deletes all invalid file types, extensions, obsolete software, and etc.

Small program- 1.2 MB

No Adware/Spyware bundled

The Bad:

Costs $17.99 for unrestricted version

Trial only has 5 entries per scan until nag screen

As you can see, my only complaint here is its price – for some, though, the larger number of problems that the Digeus Registry Cleaner can find may make it worth the cost. So before you go and get a new computer to replace your bogged-down machine, be sure to try this exceptional software and hopefully it saves you some money, time, and effort.

Trial download available from CNET.

Product page here.

A judge recently ordered Microsoft to stop selling Word, one of their flagship products. Microsoft is guilty of infringing i4i’s patent on XML software.

In May, Microsoft, was ordered to pay 200 million dollars. Then on August 18, Microsoft was again ordered to pay an additional 40 million for willful infringement along with 37 million in prejudgment interest.

Microsoft is being given 2 months to stop selling their office software. But I doubt Microsoft will let this all go down without a fight.

They will probably

Appeal (obviously)

Issue a patch and remove infringed code off new editions (which I think is much easier then stopping sales altogether)

Settle for some ridiculously high fee that won’t be disclosed to the public

Hire some more lawyers!

Sorry for the picture quality, it was taken on my camera phone.

Anyways, these babies retail for about $70.00 bucks but I got them for around $42.00 thanks to something called Bing Cashback!

Bing is Microsoft’s new search engine, and they’re basically paying you to use it! This is a list of all the stores that qualify for Bing Cashback and the percentage that you will receive back when buying stuff from them.

In order to receive cashback, you need to make a Bing account. After that is done, go look around and see what you like, make sure you navigate to the store through this list. That way Microsoft can track your purchases and give some $$$ back.

Keep in mind that it can take up to 60 days for Microsoft to give you your CB.

Payment Methods

Paypal (recommend)

Bank Deposit

Check

As for my shoes, I got them on Eastbay.com. Eastbay has a 50% CB rate, so go and buy stuff! (FYI-Maximum CB is $200 per order)

You would think a new revamped, smaller, thinner PS3 would look sleeker? Maybe even have a little shinier? It seems so.. fake.. and knocked off, sort of like the things you find in China! I recently tried to buy a broken one on eBay to fix, but I couldn’t get any at a decent price! Maybe this will bring down the prices on eBay!

I actually bought a red ringed Xbox 360 from a friend and did the x-clamp mod. It worked perfectly until I played rainbow 6 and it red ringed again. Then I did the mod again, then it red ringed again. I then took apart the case, let it run for 15, let the GPU burn in, and it worked again! Then it stopped working.. again.. It is now sitting there until I attempt to revive it… Again =(. I will post pics of my adventures with my Xbox soon!

Dell recently brought back its “10 Days of Deals”, where everyday there are.. well, new deals! On the third day, they were going to have S2009W 20 in. HD monitors going for about $89.00 each. After deciding I was going to get two of these beauties, I started to wonder how I would compete with everybody else who wakes up to orders these. I’ve had bad experiences getting orders in for things in demand (ie. Woot’s Bag of Crap). After brainstorming, I decided to hop onto Dell Live Chat to see if they could help me out. To my disappointment, they said no. Then I decided to call Dell Sales, where a kind woman was more then eager to help me with my purchase. Apparently, these sales techs were given the green light to sell these monitors at bargain prices two days prior to the actual sale. After a few days, I checked a random forum that popped up in my google search for these monitors. People were having so much trouble ordering these monitors. Somebody even said that they were told that the monitors were sold out before the sale began, which is obviously wrong, because many people were still ordering.

All in all, I am very satisfied with Dell Sales Techs, and my monitors are awesome. They are in 16:9 aspect ratio, and may take a little getting used too. But most movies and shows are in this ratio, and I can’t tell if things are stretching perfectly or if its just my imagination. FYI, I went from a 20.1 in Acer Widescreen and a 19 in Princeton Fullscreen to these two 20 in’s. Even though, the Acer is still a nice monitor, these Dell’s are way more aesthetically pleasing.

For example, you can group all of your Word documents next to each other, instead of having a Word Doc, Powerpoint, Firefox, then another Word Doc.
This little 630 kb file is a life saver for people with OCD. It allows you to drag and drop the programs that are running on your taskbar for quick reorganization.

Health Assignment- Talk about your comfort foods. This is what one of my fellow students came up with.

I like to eat granola bars and drink chocolate milk. I eat up to 15 granola bars a day, and drink several pints of chocolate milk. I am most prone to eating granola bars in the period before lunch, because I always get hungry at that time. I also eat many granola bars when I play tennis in the afternoons, because sometimes I get bored and eat to amuse myself. I like drinking chocolate milk because it is very filling. In fact, sometimes I substitute chocolate milk for solid foods. My mother tells me that this is okay because babies drink nothing but milk, and chocolate milk has extra nutrients from the high fructose sugar and artificial chocolate flavoring. Comfort foods encourage overeating because they are appetizing, and you can often eat more than non comfort foods. Eating fruits, vegetables, and drinking water would be more healthy physically than eating comfort foods. I am particularly lucky because my favorite comfort foods are extremely healthy and supplement my abundant diet. Furthermore, I can eat all different kinds of granola bars to get different types of nutrients.
I think that bariatric surgery is an excellent idea for teens. Teenagers need more nutrients than adults, because they are growing. Therefore, by having bariatric surgery, they can increase their intake of food even more. This would make them much happier and would greatly improve their mental health. However, I do not think that bariatric surgery is a good idea for anorexic people, because they already do not receive enough nutrients. Instead, it should be used for teenagers who know how to feed themselves and have the discipline to eat more food than necessary every day. They need to be exemplary eaters and go above and beyond their recommended diets.
Actually, on second thought, bariatric surgery is not such a good idea for teens. Apparantly it not only reduces your nutrient intake but also reduces your stomache size. Therefore, it will be difficult to eat more food to make up for the loss of nutrients.
