Apple’s Beta 2.1 Firmware Hints at New iPod Touch
no comments
The new beta firmware contains references to an unreleased model of the iPod, the “iPod2,1.” Whereas the current iPod Touch is the “iPod1,1,” the reference may be to a new iPod to be released soon.
The current iPhone 3G is known as “iPhone1,2″ – its predecessor was “iPhone1,1.” Note that the various 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB versions of the first iPhone were all under the same model number, and the iPhone 3G was only given an increment to “1,2″ rather than “2,1.” This said, an upgrade to “iPod2,1″ may very well hint at dramatic improvements in a new iPod to come.
